Former Premier League referee Paul Alcock dies aged 64

• Referee was in spotlight after Paolo Di Canio push in 1998

The former Premier League referee Paul Alcock has died at the age of 64 after a fight with cancer.

The official was thrust into the spotlight when Sheffield Wednesday’s Paolo Di Canio pushed him over having been shown a red card against Arsenal at Hillsborough in 1998.
